Season of Lent

Let me say, I love Lent! I have heard the phrase, “Lent brings you to your knees and Easter brings you to your feet”… how great is that?  Each Lenten season, for me, is a time to reset; to reflect and review my walk. I need this built in reminder/discipline … all 40 plus days!

I revisit and pray through questions such as, what does it  mean to belong to Jesus, to “wait upon the Lord”, his plan-my plan?, what does it mean to serve, … and ask, how can I peel back the busyness of the daily in order to take a fresh look at who I am meant to be?   Then the challenge, will I be open to the answers?

This Lenten season is different, my questions have already been answered. One year ago, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. His subsequent surgery, chemo and radiation left me speechless and left God doing all the talking. The answers kept coming clearly and with assurance to all of my questions … I do belong to Jesus, I can wait upon him, I do know his plan is the right plan, I CAN peel back the busyness in the daily and I am in good hands walking with the Lord, one day at a time. I learned that a Daily walk is a wise walk.

Jesus calls us to himself and to one another. Again, I am reminded … it is our awesome God and the faithfulness of the Body of Christ that gets us through the daily!

Father, May we allow Lent to bring us to our knees and Easter to our feet …standing tall and giving you the glory in all things! As we approach Easter, let your good news come in and through us as individuals and as a community and be thankful! In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Matthew 6:33-34 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
