It has been said that a church must be committed to youth ministry, because students are the future of the church. That only tells one-half of the story. Our students are both the future of the church, as well as the church of today. If we want to reach more students with the message of Jesus, we need the students of today sharing that message with their friends.

Sunhouse – the name given to our youth ministry in 1971, seeks to be a place where students encounter the life-saving hope of Jesus. This happens through camps and small groups and various activities, as well as weekly on-campus gatherings in a building which used to be known as Kirk House, but has now been renamed Sunhouse.

The Kirk House was completed in 1951 and has served the church well. Many of our members remember fellowship events and choir practices that took place in the Kirk House. When our Life Center and Administration Building was completed in 2003, our student ministry moved into its current location – the old Kirk House, and today it is called Sunhouse.

The time has come to renovate Sunhouse. It is showing the wear and tear of being around 70 years. We will add a lift, so students who are unable to climb stairs will have access to the second floor, as well as add ADA bathrooms, on the second floor. The kitchen will be redone and all rooms will be updated. We also plan to create a new all church welcome center outside of Sunhouse in our main courtyard area.

Our goal is to raise $400,000 and the campaign will run until June 2023. We would love to have your help. You can make a one-time donation, or make a pledge for the next 14 months. Please complete the attached card and place it in one of the offering boxes on campus, mail it in, or bring it to the church office. You may also set up a payment plan at ljpres.org/sunhouse, or make a gift online at ljpres.org/donate.

On Sunday, April 24th, Sunhouse staff and students will be on the courtyards of LJPC sharing more information about this exciting campaign.
