Welcome Back SunHouse

For more than 50 years, SunHouse has been a place where students feel known, welcomed, and invited into a growing relationship with Jesus.

WHAT

A Complete Renewal

SunHouse hadn’t been meaningfully updated in more than 40 years.

During renovation, we uncovered major infrastructure and safety issues — including a collapsed sewer system, outdated wiring and plumbing, and structural concerns that needed immediate attention.

What you see today is the result of a comprehensive rebuild, designed to create a safe, welcoming, and modern environment for students.

What Was Accomplished:

Structural Safety Upgrades

Added earthquake shear wall, new ceilings, insulation, and reinforced interior walls.

Full Electrical Rewire

Entire building rewired with upgraded electrical service to every room.

New Sewer & Plumbing

Complete replacement of collapsed sewer lines and all building plumbing.

New HVAC & Climate Control

Installed modern zoned heating and air conditioning for comfort and efficiency.

Roof Replacement & Waterproofing

New second-story roof, flat roof, and exterior foundation waterproof barrier.

ADA Accessibility Improvements

Four ADA-compliant bathrooms and elevator lift providing second-floor access.

Energy Efficiency Enhancements

LED lighting with motion sensors and energy-efficient windows throughout.

Security & Fire Protection

Fire-rated doors, new exterior entrances, and 19-camera security system.

Technology Infrastructure

All new data networking and wiring to support modern ministry needs.

A Fresh, Welcoming Space

Reimagined interiors designed to serve students for decades to come.

WHO

A Legacy of Faith A Future of Hope

Since 1971, thousands of middle school and high school students have walked through these doors.

They’ve built friendships here. Asked hard questions here. Prayed here. Laughed here. Learned who they are in Christ here.

SunHouse has been a sacred space for generations — a place where young people discover belonging and faith.

And now, because of this renovation, future generations will do the same.

Friends

I am excited to welcome you back to SunHouse!  This project has finally been completed!  For many of our middle school students this will be the first time they have ever been in SunHouse.

I also have incredible news to share with you.  I am pleased to announce that a generous donor has offered a $500,000 matching gift to help us pay off the costs of this renovation project.  Our goal is to raise or receive  pledges of $500,000 over the next two years.

Personally, Shannon and I are so grateful for the impact SunHouse had on our own children.  Both of our children grew up at SunHouse.  They went to camp with SunHouse.  They went on mission trips with SunHouse.  Their faith was formed and shaped by the staff and volunteers at SunHouse and we want to be a part of creating a welcoming space for the next generation.

Whether you give once, or pledge over two years, every contribution helps build a lasting foundation for the next generation.

You can print and complete the pledge card below and place it in one of the offering boxes on campus, mail it in, or bringing it to the church office. You can also make a one time or reoccoring gift online at ljpres.org/donate.  The campaign will run until March 2028.

Blessings,

Pastor Paul
