Rosarito Mexico Mission Trip

Are you high school age or older and in reasonably good physical condition? Are you looking for a radical adventure? Do you feel called by Christ to stand with the poor and provide for the orphan? Then read on. Opportunities like this don’t come around very often.
What Kind Of Work Are We Doing? Working with a team of skilled masons from Calvary Chapel in Rosarito, we’ll continue construction of the foundation of the Casa de Los Angeles Orphanage in Rosarito, MX, just south of Tijuana along the coast. No special skills are required! Everyone will be able to make an important contribution. Depending on your level of strength and ability, you might be organizing tools and lunch, tying rebar, building wood forms, bending rebar or mixing and pouring concrete.
Where Are We Going? Rosarito is a tranquil, mid-sized town along the coast about 15 miles south of Tijuana, MX. We have a lot in the hills above the city where we’re building an orphanage that will eventually accommodate 20 children. We’ll be driving by cars and vans to Rosarito where we’ll stay at the beautiful Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Training Center. We’ll be joined in Mexico by other friends from La Crescenta Presbyterian Church.
What’s The Schedule? We’ll be heading down to Mexico Friday evening after work. We’re planning on working through Monday, but if that’s a problem we can send some of the team back on Sunday night. We’ll be working all day Saturday, Sunday afternoon, and Monday morning at the orphanage site. We’ll also worship with our friends at Calvary Chapel, Rosarito on Sunday morning. We’ll eat breakfast at the training center restaurant (Sat, Sun, Mon), eat lunch at the work site, and eat dinner out (Fri on the road, Sat and Sun at fun Rosarito restaurants).
What Should I Bring? You must have a valid passport to enter and leave Mexico! A complete packing list is included on the trip flyer here
What’s The Fee? How Do I Register? $190 covers the cost of all transportation, hotel lodging, and all but 3 meals. Click here to download the registration form. Mail or bring in your check and registration form to the LJPC main office. (The construction supplies and workers’ wages will be paid from a separate fund and is not covered by your trip fee.) The registration deadline is Tuesday, February 3, or when the group size reaches 20.
Will It Be Safe? The highly-publicized violent crime in Mexico generally occurs in isolated areas, and between drug cartels and the police. Rosarito is a relatively low-crime region. Also, we will be traveling as a group and will always be near friends who live and work in the Tijuana/ Rosarito region. The resort where we will be staying maintains a high level of security and is located along a well-traveled highway.
