Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you Do not fear, I will help you.”
On September 26, 2012 at 3:00 o’clock in the morning my wife, Donna, fell down a flight of 12 steps in our home. She severed all ligaments holding her neck and displaced 4 vertebrae. I was in panic. My wife of 50 years could easily die or be seriously impaired. I began to pray without ceasing. I ask our church community to join me. Our Growth Group, the Stephen Ministers, the Pastors, the Elders, Deacons prayer team, and others – I e-mailed them all and kept them advised of her progress through the critical 7 weeks of ICU, hospital, and re-hab. I do not know how many people from our church community prayed for Donna but I feel that it was in the hundreds. God heard these prayers and He has kept her safe. I am so thankful that our church community came together in His name and for His glory to pray for Donna.
Dear Lord,
When we suffer give us the faith to trust in you completely. Let us know that you will cure; in your way and in your time. Give us the humility to know that we do not control. Whatever your cure or timing, let us know it is holy, just and full of your loving forgiveness. Permit us to actually have an attitude of joy in suffering. Let us recognize the opportunity we have to grow closer to you; to have a deeper relationship with you; and, to serve you with more understanding and compassion for others.
I pray this in Christ’s name and in remembrance of His suffering on the Cross for our salvation.
AMEN
