God called Abraham, Isaac and Jacob the patriarchs of Israel.  He raised Moses to bring His people out of Egypt.  But it was not until after the disobedience and the 40 year desert experience of the “stiff necked people” they officially became His People.  It was just before they crossed the Jordan River that Moses declared “You have now become the people of the Lord your God”(Deut 27:9&10).  Their obedience to his words would protect them and guide them.  They were blessed to be a blessing to all peoples on earth (Gen 12:2&3).

In our time God is calling each one of us to be part of His family.  When we accept by faith what Jesus did for us on the cross in dying for our sins we become one with all the believers by faith in God (OT) and Jesus (NT).  In thankfulness we serve others.  Our own families, our Church family, the larger world wide Church Community and all those in need here and far.  I can do little but together we can do much more.  As it says in the new testament we become even closer than a family by becoming one body with many members (Rom 12:4-5 & ICor 12:12-14).

Prayer:  Lord help us to see and hear Your call for us to serve others in Christ’s name.
