Romans 12:12 ”Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
When My Husband Sean and I were married, we knew that we were meant to be parents but little did we realize how difficult our “Journey to Parenthood” would be! After our wedding we started “trying”. After 2 miscarriages we reluctantly turned to the assistance of professionals. With their help we managed to get pregnant several times but each time were brought lower on our knees by loss. After our fifth loss we turned to adoption. For two long years our faith was tested: Tested by waiting, a wait punctuated by lows from loss, grief, feelings of abandonment, and highs from hope, faith, and community support. Eventually we gave up – really gave up, but our community did not! We are now blessed by the miracle of adoption of our baby girl. Our hopes, dreams, and prayers of becoming “Mommy and Daddy” finally were answered!
Our journey was tough, but it was our community that kept us strong and our spirits high. We honestly could not have made it without our “Prayer Warriors”. Whether it was asking how we were doing, sharing a hug, a kind message or just touching our hand during a church service…they were unconditionally there for us. They helped us stay hopeful, patient and strong during our trials and tribulations. They prayed for us daily and reminded us of prayer during our lows. The power of community prayer is real! Our community comforted us when we were down and celebrated, hugely celebrated, with us when our dreams finally came true.
Dear God, I pray that everyone in our church can find their community. Community is everything!
